Hoover District Day Camp

The annual Hoover District Cub Scout Day Camp was held June 21 – 25.  There were approximately 180 cub scouts that attended this year.  Boy scouts from Troop 127, Troop 69, and Troop 167 worked as den chiefs.

There were several different stations, such as crafts, wood craft, fishing, archery, BB guns, field sports, Webelos readyman, Wolf/Bear readyman, Webelos science, and Wolf/Bear science.  I worked at wood craft, fishing, archery, field sports, Webelos readyman, and Wolf/Bear science.

During lunch time, the cub scouts and den chiefs all had the opportunity to swim about 15 minutes in Weed Park’s new aquatic center.  Everybody had a lot of fun there.  Later in the week, some of the den chiefs didn’t get to swim, because of a tight schedule.

There were also programs during lunch.  Some of these were a shootout, a saddle maker, and police dogs.  I didn’t see any of these myself, as they were during the time that den chiefs were swimming.

On Friday, we had several different activities such as calf roping, the pony express relay, and water games.  Day Camp ended about 2 hours earlier on Friday.

Overall, it was a very fun week.  For the cub scouts, and the den chiefs.
